Number 5 is Alive

While Andy Reid and Jeffrey Lurie were saying all the right things in their press conference, I had a few more questions about this Donovan McNabb trade.

Isn't it the ultimate sign of disrespect that the Eagles traded McNabb to a division rival? They are stating through their actions that they believe that the Redskins are an inferior team, and McNabb is not enough of a difference maker to beat the Eagles twice a season.

Didn't McNabb only have one year left on his contract? If this is the case, I hope a long term extension is coming soon. If an extension is signed, the Redskins don't know how long McNabb will play at a high level and will probably sign him for another two or three seasons beyond 2010.

This trade will be one of the more interesting stories to follow next season. The games between the Eagles and Redskins are sure to be highly rated (much like the Vikings and Packers last season). I am rooting for McNabb because, intended or not, this trade was a bit of a slap in the face.
